Photographic Prints
I have been privileged to travel to some fascinating places on our planet, from the ruggedness of the Balkans, to ancient and modern places of the Middle East, to the colourful vibrancy of North Africa. The world truly is a photographer's playground, offering opportunities wherever we may go to capture beautiful images, whether that be in our local neighbourhood or a nation and culture that is quite different to our own.

Shishas in the SinaiTravelling across the Sinai desert, we stopped midway at the only cafe in a tiny town. These shishas were lined in a row, with colour, shape and texture just calling out to me to take their picture!

Viewpoint, Petra, JordanReaching a pinnacle viewpoint at Petra, Jordan, I loved these signs and the sense of texture that comes together with the rocks.
Ancient steps, Petra, JordanPetra, Jordan.. an ancient city with an indigenous tribe that was only discovered in recent years and now made famous through movies such as Indiana Jones. I literally only had seconds to take this photo, but it is one that I have stared at for hours since. The rock has so much character in its form, textures and richness of colours. The steps, worn over the years by the countless people that have passed by this way, make me think of the fascinating history that must lie hidden in this place... and by walking on this steps, I too have become part of their history. The light shines through the opening in the rocks in such a way that beckons the traveller to come through and explore the unknown vistas that lie ahead. It makes me think about life and how sometimes we face unknown pathways, but just a few steps forward can open up whole new realms of opportunity for us ... the light beckons us to come!

Traditional Internet CafeOne of the things that fascinates me when travelling is seeing how the modern world is mixing with local traditions. When visiting a village in northern Albania I saw this traditional house which has become home to an internet cafe. This was a small remote village, and during communist times would have been totally isolated, yet now has access to the whole world! Another sight of ‘old meeting new’ which remains in my mind, but which I wasn’t able to capture as we were travelling too quickly, is of a Bedouin tent I saw along the Kings Highway in Jordan. The tent was pitched in the sandy desert as I would expect it to be ... but what I didn’t expect to see was a 4x4 vehicle parked at one end of the tent and a satellite dish at the other end. How times have changed everywhere!

Stormy olive groveWalking through the countryside just outside Tirana, Albania, we came across this olive grove. The storm clouds were gathering, making for some very atmospheric photos. The bright green tree in the middle stands out to me like a beacon of hope. Having stopped to take photos, needless to say we were then drenched by the impending downpour!
