One weekend I visited a couple of villages in northern Albania. While wandering on the outskirts of one of these villages, I saw a woman stood knitting in a field. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, she was multi tasking, knitting clothes for her family as she watched over the family cow. She approached me and my friend and invited us into her house. There we met her children, her grandchildren and her mother. What a wonderful time followed as we shared our stories together, stretching my pigeon Albanian to the full. They loved it when I offered to take portraits of the family. Several months later I returned taking prints with me. They were delighted. And what a delight this was for me, to provide photos for a family that probably had never had a photographer come to them before.
